Cyril E. King Airport has direct flights from many US East Coast hubs. US citizens don't need a passport — it's a US territory. Aim to arrive before mid-afternoon so the whole journey happens in daylight.
Skip the shared taxi line and book directly with our preferred driver, Junior Miller of JS Miller Taxi and Tours — a clean, strong-AC private van with a guaranteed pickup time, straight from the airport to either ferry.
Two ferry options get you from St. Thomas to Cruz Bay. Red Hook is the reliable default — runs about every hour, very consistent timing, but it's the longer taxi ride from the airport. Crown Bay is a prettier boat ride and a much shorter taxi (just minutes from the airport), but the schedule is lighter and timing can be hit or miss — check it close to your travel date.
A four-wheel-drive vehicle is required for the villa — St. John's roads are steep, and it's part of the adventure. Our two preferred rental companies, both right in Cruz Bay: St. John Car Rental and Slim Man's Jeep Rental. Renting on St. John typically costs a little more than renting on St. Thomas, but we still recommend it — it skips the car barge entirely, and not all St. Thomas companies allow their vehicles off-island anyway.
